What are the best ways to find a good dentist in my home town? I have been to several dentists in my area in the last several months and have spent alot of money on consultations basically. I have several procedures that I need done and before I shell out more money on procedures I want to make sure that I have a competent dentist that I comfortable with and can trust to make decisions in my best long-term interest. Any advice.....I live in Orlando, FL

Finding a dentist directory
1-800-dentist is an advertising agency and only lists the dentists who pay. In other words, it is far from unbiased.
I like two sites that use the same database www.webdentistry.com and www.smilefinder.com. They claim to have more than 180,000 dental practices in their database but I haven't had a chance to count them. :-)
The American Dental Association's website www.ada.org is also good but gives very little information about the doctors other than you know they are members of the ADA. Then again, who isn't?
BTW I believe the smilefinder database can be licensed from a company called Mediadontics...so maybe someone would want to contact them. It'd be a lot easier than building one from scratch.
